Your AC may not turn on because of a tripped breaker, a blown fuse at the outdoor disconnect, or thermostat issues like dead batteries or loose wiring. A clogged condensate drain can trigger a float switch that shuts the system off. A dirty air filter or a switched-off furnace/air handler switch can also stop it. If the outdoor unit’s service switch was left off after maintenance, the system won’t start.
Quick checks:
- Replace thermostat batteries and confirm “Cool” and temperature setpoint
- Check breaker and outdoor disconnect
- Clear/inspect condensate drain and replace filter
